The Weeping Woman

A rich king, one day in 1789, he bought a Cameroon slave. The name of the slave was Etelvina Kengne, she was very beautiful attractive and her facial features were amazing. These characteristics only could belong to a Yoruba princess. The nightingale called “Martin de la Vega”. Martín de la Vega had a wife and a large family. His wife was Esperanza de la Vega, with his wife had two children. One of them was Pablo de la Vega Castillo and his sister was Sara de la Vega Castillo. Martin´s family was very particular because each one had different problems and nobody could intrude in these.

Despite that Martin had a grandiose family for him was habitual to abuse of his girls’ slaves. For that reason, Etelvina wouldn't be the exception. But on a Good Friday day, he was decided to have Etelvina. While his family was staying in the church, she was raped by him.

After this fact, some days passed and Etelvina was pregnant. But this situation was embarrassed for Martin, because any of his slaves had become pregnant, Etelvina was the first one. Martin didn´t want the baby of a slave for that reason he wanted that Etelvina aborted the baby. However, Etelvina begged to him that she could have her baby because she loved her baby. Martin accepted her solicitude but she lived captive for nine months. Until the day when she was already to give birth. Then, she was taken to the San Juan de Dios' Hospital and her nurse introduced herself as Cecilia.

Etelvina left the Hospital because she didn´t find her baby. Cecilia said to Etelvina that her baby was born death. But Etelvina didn’t believe in the words of the nurse and she decided to walk for the streets, she was crying and calling her baby, she said that her baby had been stolen by Martin. When Cecilia went out looking for Etelvilna, she saw a thin slender girl who was onslaught by the royal carriage. However, when she ran to the accident scene she couldn´t identify the face of the girl, so she picked up whose documents, then she knew that she was a slave but she wasn´t Etelvina, her name was Melisandre Ahmed.

Etelvina arrived to the “Salto de Tequendama” and she saw to Martin with the baby. She begged for that Martin didn’t let her baby fall. But Martin threw Etelvina’s baby to the “Salto de Tequendama” and then she also threw herself after that. However nobody knew that Cecilia didn´t give the baby of Etelvina to Martin, instead of her baby she gave other baby. Cecilia adopted the baby of Etelvina and he became in a slave of Martin. The name of this slave was Arturo Kengne. Years afterwards he knew the humiliations that had happened her mother and he killed his father. Nowadays in the “San Juan de Dios” and in the “Salto de Tenquedama” the people have created many legends based on the miserable life of a slave, of name Etelvina.
